What you will be doing
Drive, maneuver, or control the heavy machinery used to construct roads and other structures.
  • Cleans and maintains equipment, making basic repairs as necessary.
  • Coordinates machine actions with crew members using hand or audio signals.

The 329/330/336 Excavator Operator operates or tends machinery equipped buckets, to excavate and load loose materials.  Operates construction equipment, such as, power shovels, trench-digging machines, bulldozers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Move levers, depress foot pedals, and turn dials to operate power machinery, such as power shovels, stripping shovels, scraper loaders, dozers, graders, mining equipment, or backhoes.
  • Set up or inspect equipment prior to and after operation.
  • Observe hand signals, grade stakes, or other markings when operating machines so that work can be performed to specifications.
  • Read and interpret construction plans and digging plans
  • Ensure operation of equipment within machine capabilities and limitations, and with efficient and safe procedures in many given applications.
  • Operate machinery to perform activities such as excavation, backfilling excavations, vibrating or breaking rock or concrete, or making roads.
  • Create and maintain inclines and ramps, and handle slides, mud, and pit cleanings and maintenance.
  • Lubricate, adjust, or repair machinery and replace parts, such as gears, bearings, or bucket teeth.
  • Move materials over short distances, such as around a construction site.
  • Measure and verify levels of rock or gravel, bases, or other excavated material.

The Construction Superintendent, will Plan and coordinate activities concerned with the scheduling, deployment, operation and maintenance of construction equipment. Studies construction specifications and plans and assesses starting and completion times, equipment requirements, and staffing requirements for each phase of construction, based on knowledge of available tools and equipment and various building methods.
 
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Schedule resources in logical steps and budget time to meet deadlines for construction projects.
  • Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, or design professionals to discuss and resolve matters, such as work procedures and complaints.
  • Prepare and submit budget estimates, progress reports, or cost tracking reports.
  • Interpret and explain construction plans and contract terms to staff, workers, and others.
  • Plan, organize, and ensure the operation of construction equipment to meet construction plans and deadlines for both public and private construction jobs.
  • Take actions to deal with the results of delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction sites.
  • Inspect or review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes, DOT, OSHA, and MSHA, and other regulations
Education & Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 5 plus years of experience in pipe & utilities leadership roles preferred

This program is a valuable opportunity for interns to understand the integration of academic/theoretical issues with the day-to-day processes of specific Civil Engineering/Construction Management functions. The program will also familiarize interns with the specific skills, self-discipline, and self-confidence needed to be successful in the day-to-day functioning in a construction company. The program will run from May 2021 through mid-August 2021.
 
Requirements
  • You must be an undergraduate college student who has completed your freshman year at a 4-year university or college.
  • You must be majoring in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Science, or equivalent.
  • Your GPA to date must be 3.0 minimum on a scale of 4.0.
  • You must be at least 18 years of age at the start of the Summer Internship Program.
  • You must be able to provide your own housing and transportation in the DFW area.  
 
Location
  • Sinacola headquarters is in Frisco, Texas, on the northern edge of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Interns will spend time both at headquarters as well as in the field.

The Project Engineer is responsible for coordinating MSSEI construction projects, including preparing and updating project schedules, project submittals, production quantities, preparing and submitting requests for payments, and monitoring the project budget to ensure work is completed within that budget. This position’s responsibilities also entail the preparation of project spending forecasts and project cost accrual projections.
 
Responsibilities: 
  • Manage and direct staff members and the construction, operations, or maintenance activities at project site.
  • Provide technical advice regarding design, construction, or program modifications and structural repairs to industrial and managerial personnel.
  • Inspect project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications and safety or sanitation standards.
  • Estimate quantities and cost of materials, equipment, or labor to determine project feasibility.
  • Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects.
  • Prepare or present public reports on topics such as bid proposals, deeds, environmental impact statements, or property and right-of-way descriptions.
Education and Experience: 
  • 2+ years of experience in relevant Project Management, construction management, and/or Operations Management experience.
  • Must be willing to travel.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and supervisory skills essential.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform daily pre/post trip inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with DOT guidelines and company policies.
  • Monitor instrumentation during operation of vehicle.
  • Properly load and unload equipment or materials.
  • Obey applicable laws and follow dispatch instructions.
  • Operator will be responsible for a safe work environment for themselves, co-worker, and public.
  • When working with co-workers, constant eye contact will be maintained when backing, communicating using hand signals or other movements.

  • Conduct batch plant safety, maintenance and operations training.

Responsibilities:

  • Check slopes for conformance to requirements, using levels or lasers.
  • Cover pipes with earth or other materials.
  • Connect pipe pieces and seal joints, using welding equipment, cement, or glue.
  • Cut pipes to required lengths.
  • Install or repair sanitary or storm water sewer structures or pipe systems.
  • Install or use instruments such as lasers, grade rods, or transit levels.
  • Grade or level trench bases, using tamping machines or hand tools.
